Edit Location:

There are many different types of low vision aids to help improve the qualities of life. In order to receive the most from a low vision aid you must first understand that all aids have advantages and limitations and must understand what the devices can and can not do.

Magnifying glasses also known as hand-held magnifiers and typically provide around 1 1/2 to 20 times magnification, however the only down fall is if your hands tire easily or shake then it may be difficult to use.

Stand magnifiers are particularly useful for people with weak or shaky hands. They must sit flat above the viewing page and can be easily mounted to a stand or you can purchase an illuminated stand for better visibility purposes that you can plug in or uses batteries and also magnifies around 2 to 20 times its size.

If your having a hard time seeing try these helpful hints.

You can start by improving your lighting, not necessarily meaning increasing the light or brightness because often glare is the problem. Special lights are available on our site for such cases.

- use of a broad tipped felt pen on white paper and use a high contrast light while reading and writing

- use a magnifying glass or hand magnifier

- most libraries have sections for large print books

Many people have received help or assistance from the aid of magnifiers that you can attach to your computer screen, attach to your eye glasses, attach to a stand or hold in your hand to better enable the person to read. You will probably need a mixture of these helpful devices to better help perform your day to day tasks. So don’t be discouraged, we can help you find magnifiers of all shapes and sizes for daily use.
